Direct Assistance

Direct assistance is a service provided to a CARD-FSU constituent in their home, school, or community. Direct assistance can include phone/e-mail contacts and home-based consultation for an individual. Direct assistance may also take the form of community or school site visits, attending meetings, research and resource dissemination, connecting families to community supports, and/or assistance with implementing ideas from training sessions. The purpose of these activities is to work directly with an individual constituent and/or their families to provide them, their school or agency with information that will help meet the needs at hand.

Parent Connection

One of the most valuable resources for parents of children with Autism is the opportunity to connect with other parents.  Parents help each other by offering their support, experience, and information.  FSU-CARD is interested in developing a resource list of parents who are willing to talk to other families about issues important to them.  Possible areas of interest, among many others, include information for newly diagnosed families, strategies for home, biomedical issues, developing appropriate IEP’s, and working effectively with schools.

Parents who are interested in being added to our parent resource list should complete a form giving FSU-CARD permission to share your phone number or email address with other interested parents.  The permission form will also give you an opportunity to specify topics that you are comfortable discussing with others.
